Polartec was established in 1906 as Malden Mills in the USA providing wool knit outfits for soldiers through the two world wars. In 1956 the company moved to Lawrence in the Merrimack Valley, MA for innovation. In 1981 Polartec invented a revolutionary new fabric - synthetic fleece. Named one of the 20th century’s greatest innovations by Time Magazine, this fabric would turn outdoor dressing on its head.
