Taking their lead from the highly successful MONTANE® Lakeland 100 and 50 ultra races, the purpose of the MONTANE® Trail 26 events is to provide the opportunity for both trail and road runners to 'step up' to longer distance trail challenges. Whether you're looking to complete your first trail marathon, progress to 'ultra distances' or you're a current 'ultra runner' training for longer challenges, these races provide all sorts of opportunities.
Trail 26 Race Calendar 2019:
Grizdale Forest Trail 13 & 26, Lake District - February 3rd 2019
Dalemain Estate Trail 10km, Cumbria - February 24th 2019
Howgills Trail 13km & 26km, Yorkshire - May 12th 2019
Delamere Forest Trail 5km, 10km & 13km Cheshire - September 2019
The events take place on recognised footpaths and trails and the aim is to set safe but challenging courses for all. All routes will be marked at key points but some navigation will be required. Participants will be provided with a pre-marked map and a road book of the route (including a written description). Each course also has a single checkpoint, generally close to the half way mark, providing support, food and drink. Part of the challenge at the MONTANE® Trail 26 events is navigating the route, so there is light signage for the full course and runners will have to use a little bit of brainpower. However, the level of navigation required is relatively easy, making the events an ideal point to start if you hope to progress to more challenging ultra trail or mountain marathon type events.
