My line of work regularly takes me to the High-Arctic so a decent duvet jacket is a must. I've noticed that the quality control (and indeed quality overall) of the two main down jacket manufacturers in the UK has slipped dramatically in the past couple of years, so when it came to replace my existing jacket I decided to try Montane for the first time.

This jacket is simply excellent. The quality of construction and attention to detail is top notch; no down shifting about and leaving cold spots, no half empty compartments and all the features and functionality you could wish for. Yes its quite heavy, but no more so than comparable jackets from other manufacturers. It's very warm (400g of down) and the detachable hood is easily large enough to accommodate the biggest of climbing helmets.

The size fits quite large - I am a 38 inch chest and fell in-between small and medium (I would usually take a medium) - although small was a better fit in some ways, I plumped for medium in the end given that this would allow for extra layers, but you may want to try one on to get the sizing right.

Overall the jacket oozes quality and is a bargain for the price. Montane customer service also first rate-ordered Monday, delivered Tuesday with a very nice branded envelope inside containing the invoice etc. A nice touch that added to a great buying experience!

Looks good, extremely warm, excellent quality, excellent fit, breathable. Able to walk in as breathable and don't overheat whilst wearing it. Highly recommended.
