I purchased the jacket for a summer climb on Mont Blanc and found it to be light, comfortable, windproof and waterproof, even in a heavy Alpine storm. It has subsequently been used in the Peaks, Lakes and Scotland keeping me warm and dry.

I bought this Jacket for a 6 month trip in North America, with the majority of the time spent in Canada in and around the Rockies. Temperatures varied from -40°C to +20°C, conditions from heavy snowfall to heavy rain.

My initial outing in this jacket involved Mountain Trekking with high exertion at -35°C (with wind chill -40°C) plus 2 foot of fresh snow. The Gore-Tex Pro's breathability was very effective despite low winds and shifted snow fall with ease. The pit zips were useful in shifting out body heat quickly in bursts without having to sacrifice protection from snow.

Near the end of the trip, the weather flipped to +15°C and heavy rain. The Gore-Tex Pro membrane is fully water tight, and the original water repellency treatment on the jacket lasts a decent amount of time. A couple months in the DWR had rubbed off in high wear areas (shoulders and back due to carrying rucksacks) - easily treatable with any DWR spray or wash, I used Grangers Xtreme Repel after using Nikwax Techwash.

The hood has a 3 point hood adjustment which is really easy to use and fits helmets with ease. The waist adjustment again is easy to use and tucks away nicely under the shell. The 2 side pockets are very large. All the zips resisted snow, hail, and rain - I never had to worry about items getting weather damage.

The Gore-Tex Pro Material has 3 layers of the Gore-Tex membrane, which means it is SUPER tough. I've done Hiking, Ice Climbing, Snowboarding, Canoeing, Scrambling and much more with this jacket and I'm always astonished at its durability!

I'm 5'10" with an athletic build and the small fits great. There just is enough room to layer up with a base layer, fleece, and down jacket, while not hindering flexible. The length of the jacket was just long enough, but I'd suggest getting the medium for anyone taller.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a tough high-performance jacket that can make it through all the extremes nature has to throw at you, look no further. An absolute quality piece of kit.
