Bought this for hiking in Iceland, surprisingly warm for it's weight and unlike most micro type downs I have tried it has the advantage of more pockets including a very useful inner mesh pocket. I have only worn this down to -2 so far but the wind chill would have been more like -10 and yet with a merino base and light fleece it trapped in heat and kept out the winds so well I was still nice and warm. The hood is perfectly adjustable and for a change I didn't even need a hat underneath as it's also very well insulated. I was so impressed I've just bought the Atomic jacket to partner it in my layering system in case the rains come. 10/10 as I really cannot fault it, Montane you have gained a customer for life.

This works well as a stand-alone jacket in moderate cold and as a layering piece in real cold. I've used it as a belay jacket over lighter layers and as a mid-layer under a Gore-Tex in the recent cold blasts. It's great value when compared to some of the existing belay jackets of identical spec.
