I got this jacket a year ago. I live in Scotland, with its windy, cold and wet winter weather. I thought this jacket might do better than a down jacket in stormy conditions and it does. It also seems to me to be better than comparable Primaloft jackets I own. I have been living in this jacket pretty much the whole winter. At first the jacket seems heavy and feels like you're wearing a carpet. However, pretty much no matter what the conditions are, you feel comfortably warm within moments of putting it on. None of my down or Primaloft jackets give me that cozy feeling, and yet I have never overheated in it because it is easy to adjust. I typically wear it with a base layer and thin micro-fleece. The hood is amazing - it can be worn over your head obviously, or cinched up like a scarf. The value of the jacket was made clear to me in Storm Ciara. I set out for walk in a regional forest the day it hit, aiming to finish before the storm rolled in. Halfway through the walk I twisted my ankle, slowing me down, which meant the last hour of the walk.was during the height of the storm. All my supposedly water-resistant gear failed from constant 45 mph winds driving rain into fabric: over-trousers, boots, gloves, & backpack all soaked through. The jacket eventually soaked through as well, but my upper body remained warm. I am certain that with any other jacket I would have risked hypothermia. Are there things I wish were changed about the jacket? Yes - hence the 4 stars. First, the micro-fleece in the 'hand warmer' pockets doesn't really hold enough heat to warm hands. Second, the micro-fleece at the sleeve openings can wick water back into the jacket (although it feels great when dry). Third, the jacket does well when it soaks through, but using a more water-resistant fabric for the shell would improve the design. Overall, this a great jacket that has handled everything that Scotland has dished out at it so far.

I bought this jacket to replace a Buffalo one which had seen better days. The fit is great. I am 42 chest but I went for 44 which is a strictly speaking, little too big but I love how it feels and will always wear at least a base-layer underneath it. The features are practical. Very good hood. Three pockets. Can’t fault it.
