This is a great technical fleece. It's lightweight, comfortable, warm and breathable. I bought it for use over a baselayer and underneath a hardshell jacket for cool/cold conditions. It works wonderfully for this purpose. The fleece is a grid pattern, which means it has a lofted fleecy grid backer which alternates between fleece squares and the thin breathable material it's attached to. This means that, unlike conventional fleeces, the raised fleecy fabric does not cover all surface area, but has breathable channels for air and sweat to move through. This creates a balance between warmth and breathability, between warmth and a cooling effect. This is basically very similar to the Polartec Powergrid that the Montane Allez has (which I also own), though this is not branded as such and so I assume is Montane's own version. The fleece fits well: I wear an XL and am 6'1" and 200lbs. I wear XL in the Montane Allez and Primino. It is generous enough to comfortably wear a baselayer underneath, but not too baggy that it doesn't feel close to the body and skin. The dark blue colour looks brilliant and the fleece washes well. The odour control treatment also seems to work. I can't think of a single criticism, though the sleeves are perhaps a touch long. It performs just as described. It's not a VERY warm fleece, so if the conditions are really cold you may want to adjust for this by wearing a warmer baselayer or additional insulation layer. Personally, my body runs warm, so a 140 primino baselayer + this fleece + a hardshell and fleece lined trousers is likely enough to keep me comfortable in the British weather down to 0 degrees C when walking at a relatively quick pace. A great piece of kit to have in my collection.
