Marcus Scotney’s Dragon’s Back CR: Broken by New Athlete

Marcus Scotney won the 2017 Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race, setting the Course Record (CR) in the process.  The following is his reflections on passing the torch to Galen Reynolds after his record was broken by 10 minutes this year.

“Galen ran an amazing race.  His domination from Day 1 was exciting to watch, he showed courage with great talent looking stronger and stronger as the race progressed down through the Welsh mountains.  it is never disappointing to lose a CR to such a talented athlete, CR’s are set so that the boundaries of performance have to keep on being pushed and I’m sure Galen pushed his own boundaries physically and mentally during the Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race.  Knowing what it takes to not only finish but to win it, I’m in awe of Galen’s incredible result.”
