TOR DES GEANTS REPORT: DAY 3
Another exciting day on the TOR, bolstered by the start of the 130km Tot Dret
The pack of 20 front-runners, still led by Franco Collé by a considerable margin, made their way through the passage of Oyace at 18:00 today. They have less than 60km until the finish line.
Following these elite athletes in real-time is difficult; by the time something is written, they are already miles away. Thankfully TOR Live is there to provide up to date tracking information and makes for great dot-watching!
Montane Athletes are going well. Lead by Kouta Toriumi who continues to perform amazingly, sitting in 5th place. Kevin Hadfield is having a very strong race and is chasing down a top 100 finish. Jenn Gaskell remains in the top 30 females.
Day 3 also saw the start of the Tot Dret. Back again after a successful first year in 2017, the Dret is a 130km race from Gressoney St Jean to Courmayeur which must be finished by Thursday. It may be shorter, but it is in no way easier, sporting 12,000m of ascent and all the same challenges and technicality of the TOR. Ones to watch include Giuliano Cavallo and Gloriana Pellissier.
