Jon’s experience as a part of the world record-breaking speed attempt to climb the 7 Summits (highest mountain on each continent).

Ok – here we go! Over the following posts I’m going to look back over the past 3 months & all 6 successful summits with 1 post per day with words, photos & videos, starting tomorrow with #1 Vinson (Antarctica) & finishing with #6 Denali (Alaska). By which time we will be at Everest Basecamp or on Everest & posts will come live from the mountain all the way to the top! I hope you enjoy the rapid journey taking you through the whole 7 Summits Expedition – all the way to Everest!

FACTS – At the moment around 348 people have completed the 7 Summits & the current Speed Record is 126 days by Janusz Kochański (Polish) in 2017. (Steve needs to summit Everest before 22nd May to break the record!). Loads more on Wikipedia.

STEVE PLAIN – I first met Steve whilst on Ama Dablam 2016. A reserved, super strong, fast to acclimatise 36 yr old Aussie who impressively ticked off Ama, Lobuche & Island in just 4 weeks. Easily.

PROJECT 7in4 – I implore you to spend some time on Steves’ excellent website (www.project7in4.com). Read about his neck injury in 2014 & the motivations behind his fundraising (please donate). Zoom around his YB Live Tracker & read some of his updates from the trip so far. He is quite an accomplished mountaineer.

M.E. INVOLVEMENT – I (Jon) have help Steve organise & plan the whole project. I didn’t go to Antarctica with Steve (as the next post will explain) & Everest was always a maybe… but the good news is…I am now going & will have the opportunity to support Steve!!

NEXT POST (2 of 13) – Will be about Steve on the 1st of the 7 summits – Mt Vinson (Antarctica).

INSTA – Both @MountExpeds & @Project7in4 are also on Instagram and posting about the project.
