A great bit of gear![]()
I got the Super-Fly XT to replace a more lightweight jacket that I had beforehand. Although this was noticeably heavier (relatively), it was also much better fitting (both in the hood over a helmet and with its long hem), much more durable (so far) and much more obviously designed for climbing. I think the design of the sleeves (which has a bit of give for when you are stretching your arms out) is ingenious - in my previous jacket I would often find myself with a wet lower back after climbing (and that was 'summer' conditions!) but I can't really find anything wrong with the Super-Fly XT. Having had it only 6 months, I can't really vouch for its long-term durability. But so far the only wear is on the sleeves (from rubbing on rock while climbing) - there is no wear from the harness, slings or rucksack. A quality jacket.

Fantastic mountain jacket, durable and reasonably light. Been using it this season winter climbing, and it has kept me dry and happy, both through its waterproofness and breathability. Really like the long cut (so the sleeves/hem don't ride up even when climbing/wearing a harness) and the adjustability of the jacket, especially the elastic around the waist and the helmet compatible hood. The pockets are well placed and accessible even using a harness, and the pit zips are useful for temperature regulation for those walk-ins energy burning pitches - reduces stopping time and the need to remove layers.

This jacket provides excellent protection in severe rain as i found recently in the Lakes. It is breathable but also extremely durable. I used this jacket to summit Mont-Blanc in 2008 and it provided excellent protection. There are plenty of options with the zip pockets and pit zips to aid ventilation. Overall a good quality product worth the money i paid for it.

Generally very good waterproof jacket with excellent-sized pockets that easily accommodate OS maps. Good protective hood that allows you to "hide" your head from the bad weather. Like most waterproof jackets, it did seem to lose its "sheen" and ability to let globules of water roll off fairly quickly. After a torrential rain-battering in the Lake District, the pockets ended up full of water but that water just ponded in them hence proving the waterproofness of the material. Zips are only water-resistant on my jacket, which is now around 18 months' old, so not as much protection as waterproof zips. Got me up and down Kilimanjaro fine though. Overall, very good waterproof jacket but I still think that there is a little more that could be done to make the whole garment completely waterproof and therefore perfect.
