Catlin Arctic Survey 2010 launched

Ice team choose Montane clothing

We're pleased to announce that the 2010 Catlin Arctic Survey mission has just been launched and the Explorer team and Scientific team will all be wearing Montane Extreme Smocks and Salopettes. The Explorer team have heavily customised versions of the Extreme Smocks and Salopettes, including extra pockets for things like food, navigation devices and batteries, larger hoods with fur trim and extra long underarm venting zips; all of which was made possible by working closely with the experts at Tundra in Washington, UK.

In little over a week the intrepid Explorer Team will be taking to the ice to endure a gruelling 60 day expedition trekking up to 500 km across the frozen Arctic Ocean.

The Survey will see them gathering data to help advance scientific understanding of how greenhouse gases could be affecting the marine life of our oceans, including some species considered vital to life on our planet.

This year also sees a group of leading scientists heading out to the inhospitable terrain; they'll be operating out of a temporary polar Ice Base under the guidance of our Arctic experts.
