Montane
29th October 2009 | Montane to sponsor Paul Errington's hottest, coldest, highest challenge

3 of the toughest mountain bike races in world, and on a singlespeed!
Paul Errington is a serious mountain biker. He's proved his credentials by winning the singlespeed category of the Montane Kielder 100.
He's undertaking a pretty hardcore challenge next year, to ride the coldest, hottest and highest mountain bike enduro races in the world.
These are the Arrowhead, a 135 mile race along the Arrowhead trail, Minnesota USA in February when it's covered in snow and the temperatures can drop as low as -60F (that's properly cold in case you were wondering!); the Desert Challenge in the Simpson desert, Australia which is a 590km race over a number of days through one of the most inhospitable environments on the planet. Finally the Yak Attack in Nepal which involves a number of stages riding at higher and higher altitudes and the consequent difficulties of acclimatising as well a trying to ride a mountain bike offroad. You can find out more about what makes these events so special by following the links below.
Clearly Paul will need a variety of clothing for the differing and very challenging conditions of the three races, and after spending some time looking at the options we think that all his clothing, except for one piece which we will custom make, will be off the shelf.
We'll be following the races on this website and the preparations, so look out for more news articles in the coming months. First race is February 2010.
