Montane are the world's largest user of Pertex fabrics for performance outdoor clothing.

Pertex is lightweight, tightly woven fabric, which as part of the manufacturing process becomes extremely wind-resistant  to the point where it is effectively windproof, but remains extremely breathable. It is also treated to be Durably Water Resistant (DWR) making it an ideal fabric for outdoor clothing to be worn in wind, light rain, cold or snow; probably 90% of the weather anyone of us might reasonably expect to encounter in the outdoors.

There are several types of Pertex; we use Microlight and Quantum for Windproof and Insulation products, Equilibium for Soft-Shell and Classic for Extreme products

Caring for Pertex

All Montane garments have a printed care label permantly attached with care instructions shown, follow these and you'll not go far wrong. The key principle is to keep you gear clean to get the best possible performance.

Over time the Durable Water Repellancy (DWR) will be diminished by washing and wear and can be restored by using Nikwax cleaning and reproofing products, see www.nikwax.com for further details
